| AFA-MI note: As was the case with Hudsonville's city library, officials of the Kent Library District announced that they will spend an astronomical amount in taxpayer funds for an Internet porn 'filtering' system whose only distinguishing characteristic is that it filters the Internet for children but guarantees adults will continue to be able to access hardcore pornography in public libraries full of children. The cost of providing full filtering (on all terminals but one, the maximum protection for children authorized but not mandated by the new state law) is miniscule by comparison. That library officials intend to spend tens of thousands of dollars more of the taxpayers' money specifically to ensure adults can access Hustler online in a building full of children, boggles the imagination and defies common sense. |
